The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline increased for the fourth consecutive week, according to data recently issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 4.7-cent increase, the national average came in at $3.631, following a $0.04-cent increase, to $3.584, for the week of October 7. That was preceded by a 0.005-cent increase, to $3.544, for the week of September 30, and a 1.3-cent increase, to $3.539, for the week of September 23.
Over the last four weeks, the national average has risen a cumulative $0.105. And prior to that the national diesel average fell a cumulative 33.9 cents, from the 10-week period, from the week of July 15 through September 9.
On an annual basis, the national average is off $0.813, down from $0.914 a week ago at this time.
WTI Crude is currently trading at $70.45 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down from $74.32 a week ago at this time.
